The Washoe County Library Board of Trustees appoints the Library Director and evaluates his/her performance, helps set Library goals and objectives, approves policies, monitors the Library’s finances, evaluates the Library’s overall effectiveness, and advocates for the Library in the community.

Membership

The Library Board of Trustees is composed of five at-large members, each appointed by the County Commission for a four-year term. Members may serve two consecutive four-year terms.

Time Commitment

The Board of Trustees meets monthly, normally on the 3rd Wednesday at 4:00 pm, and may also hold occasional special meetings as needed.

We're looking for volunteers!

The Board of Washoe County Commissioners is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Washoe County Library Board of Trustees. Term of service is July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2020, with potential reappointment.

Trustees must be residents of Washoe County and cannot be elected office-holders. Preference may be given to applicants residing in Commission District 3 or 5. Trustees should be aware of the Library’s role in the community as a center of information, culture, recreation and lifelong learning. They must also be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to perform the duties of Trustees, including preparing for and attending all Board meetings, which are normally held on the 3rd Wednesday every month at 4:00 pm.
