For Immediate Release
Reno, Nevada. March 22, 2013. A Lemmon Valley family is safe this morning after a fire broke out at their home on Meyers Avenue early Friday. Shortly after 1 a.m., Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) firefighters responded to the structure fire. Upon arrival of the first engine, 25 percent of the 1,500 square foot home’s attic was on fire. Although the family was able to escape from the fire by the time TMFPD crews arrived, two family pets were still inside. TMFPD firefighters were able to locate and rescue the pets. No injuries were reported.
TMFPD firefighters continued to make an aggressive interior attack and successfully stopped the fire’s progression 15 minutes after first arriving on scene. The efforts by TMFPD involved four engines, two water tenders, one rescue truck, and one Battalion Chief.
The home sustained moderate damage to the roof, rafters and ceiling. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
