Reno, Nevada.  July 2, 2013. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) crews are currently assisting the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) with the Red Rock Fire to protect structures in the Rancho Haven area.

TMFPD Chief Charles Moore said this morning the BLM’s estimate is 5,400 acres burned so far, and they are awaiting overflight results to determine the current size of the fire for updated information. Firefighters are also concerned about the possibility of high winds later this afternoon, as well as the current heat wave and the possibility of thunderstorms in the area later today and tomorrow.

"We have crews to guard the homes in the Rancho Haven area and we have also fully staffed other stations in the Truckee Meadows in anticipation of fire risks,” said Chief Moore. "All of the fire crews in the Red Rock area are working hard to protect homes and structures and there are no evacuation orders at this time.”
