Reno, Nevada. Dec. 13, 2013. More than 50 students from Glenn Duncan Elementary School in Reno will perform holiday carols Tuesday morning at the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting. The County and the Glenn Duncan Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academy have a proposed agreement on the Board of County Commissioners agenda Dec. 17 to formally become Partners in Education through the Education Alliance of Washoe County.
Students and teachers will walk a few blocks from the school on Montello St. with an honorary escort from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit to the Washoe County Administrative Complex at approximately 9 a.m. Dec. 17. The choir will perform several holiday songs outside the Chambers and open the Board’s 10 a.m. meeting with a brief performance.

The Education Alliance is a non-profit organization created by civic and business leaders in partnership with educators to support all students in Washoe County. Through the program, County staff members will provide support for Glenn Duncan initiatives, such as mentoring opportunities, reading programs and the school/community garden. The school serves 450 student pre-K through fifth grade.
