Reno, Nevada. June 6, 2014. Washoe County Commissioner, Kitty Jung, was recently named the recipient of the 2014 Improvement to Education Award by the Washoe Education Association. The award goes to an individual, who continually pushes for better education inside all Washoe County classrooms, yet is not employed by the school district. Commissioner Jung has played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of future leaders. Her passion and courage to relentlessly fight for education funding has been well documented, earning her an award that very few have the privilege to accept.
Commissioner Jung said she is grateful to receive such a prestigious award. “I want to thank the WEA for choosing me for this award. I am honored to be recognized for a cause that is important to all of us who are fortunate to call this great County home. At the center of quality education is our children and I look forward to continually working to make their learning environment a better place. We must invest in the future and that begins with our children.”
