Reno, Nevada. Sept. 19, 2014. Road crews will begin reconstruction on Eastlake Blvd. on Monday Sept. 22. They will work on the roadway near the southern part of I-580 and continue north for about four and a half miles.

The Eastlake Boulevard Improvement Project includes new asphalt and micro sealing of the pavement. Washoe County is contracting with Granite Construction for the $1.6 million project and the project is scheduled for 60 working days.

Drivers in the area are asked to avoid using Eastlake Boulevard if they can and are encouraged to use I-580 until the work is complete.

“We are extremely pleased to be starting on this much needed rehabilitation effort on this important County route,” said Washoe County Road Operations Superintendent Adam Searcy. “We want to make the public aware of our efforts and to also urge patience and caution during construction. While through traffic will be allowed at all times, alternative routes are encouraged during construction.”

Crews will be working in the area from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. For now, no work is scheduled at night or during weekends. There will be one lane open to through traffic at all times, but traffic control flaggers and pilot cars will cause significant delays. Drivers in the area need to be extra cautious and obey all traffic signs.
