Reno, Nevada. Sept. 30, 2014. Washoe County Commissioners and County Manager John Slaughter have been invited to walk with students and staff of Washoe County's Partner in Education, Glenn Duncan S.T.E.M Academy, Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Washoe County’s leaders will meet at Glenn Duncan S.T.E.M. Academy just before 8 a.m. Each County leader will be assigned a neighborhood in the area and will meet children and walk with them back to Glenn Duncan.

What: County Commissioners and County Manager participate in Walk to School Day.

Where: Glenn Duncan S.T.E.M. Academy, located at 1200 Montello St. Reno, NV.

When: Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 8 a.m.

At the Sept. 23 Board meeting, Washoe County Commissioners proclaimed Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, International Walk to School Day. The Board is encouraging citizens to walk or bicycle with their children to school Wednesday, Oct. 1, to give parents and caregivers an opportunity to mentor children about pedestrian and bicycle safety and all the health benefits of physical activity.
