Reno, Nevada. Dec. 15, 2014. The atrium inside the Washoe County Administrative Complex filled with cheer as 4th graders from the Glenn Duncan Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.) Academy treated County Commissioners and staff by singing several holiday songs before the Dec. 9 Board meeting.

Washoe County Chairman David Humke said the smiling faces and sweet voices of the Glenn Duncan Choir were just what he needed.

“I want to thank Glenn Duncan for coming to the County Complex and treating us to such a good time. It’s great to walk into work before a busy day and sense the holiday spirit throughout the entire place.”

Singing wasn’t the only highlight of the day - students and teachers walked a few blocks from the school on Montello St. with an honorary escort from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit to the Washoe County Administrative Complex.

Washoe County is a proud partner in education with the Glenn Duncan S.T.E.M. Academy. County staff members provide support for Glenn Duncan initiatives, such as mentoring opportunities, reading programs and the school/community garden.
