2013

  • Enabled electronic case management and data integration with new JustWare software implementation at the District Attorney’s Office.
  • Completed 92 percent of Washoe County's personal computer and laptop fleet and upgraded hardware to the Windows 7 operating system. The swap out of the remaining stragglers is in process.
  • Completed mobility strategy to create the roadmap for mobile device usage for Washoe County staff.
  • Eliminated paper, created electronic workflows, enabled quicker encumbrance reporting and saved money via rebates through the rollout out of improved procurement card processes across Washoe County.
  • Installed new or updated wireless communications infrastructure to 15 county-owned buildings.
  • Coordinated Pictometry aerial photography flights and validated product deliverables. Pictometry images are a highly sought-after dataset among our geographic information systems (GIS) customer base.
  • Led proposal and selection process for a Regional Permits and Business Licensing Platform. Partnered with Reno, Sparks and Health Department to develop a business case that our governing bodies approved to move forward with contract negotiations with the selected vendor, and create an interlocal agreement, financing options and a possible technology recovery fee.
  • Completed an inventory of 34,500 film rolls to assess redox contamination. Began process to remediate where possible and scope out future technology roadmap to move Washoe County to a filmless, digital-based environment.
  • Simplified Washoe County's annual personnel review form and processes via a re-engineering of SAP Performance Management.
  • Worked with regional partners to sustain uninterrupted dispatch services after several direct lightning strikes to the communications operations hub.
  • Implemented Assessor's Office solution to improve the ability to value real property parcels, integrate information for real and personal property, use electronic workflows and more easily do audit tracking.
  • Increased redundancy and reliability by installing redundant 911 circuits for Washoe County, Reno and Sparks Public Safety Answering Points.
  • Implemented full technology infrastructure to enable operations at new Truckee River Flood Management and Social Services Gould Street locations.
  • Released Sheriff’s Office iOS application that allows users to conduct inmate searches, report graffiti, submit online reports and sign-up for newsletters.
  • Implemented Voice Over Internet Protocol technology at Human Resources, Assessor's Office, Truckee River Flood Management, Recorder's Office, Registrar of Voter's Office, Reprographics, Technology Services, Adult Services and Health Department.

2012

  • Co-located Washoe County Dispatch with Reno Dispatch. More
  • Continued to emphasize server virtualization throughout the enterprise, currently at more than 90 percent. Anticipated savings of $426,650 in annual energy costs and nearly $2 million in hardware costs.
  • Installed new Storage Area Network (Dell Compellent Storage Center). Dell claims this method of data management can "lower storage costs by half and cut power and cooling costs by up to 93 percent."
  • Converted the central training room to utilize virtual desktop infrastructure or thin clients.
  • Completed migration of the 911 system to an IP-based solution hosted by Intrado Inc.
  • Created a redundant path for the last leg of the telecommunications network for 911 services for Reno, Washoe County and Sparks dispatch center.
  • Purchased interoperability network equipment for the Washoe County Regional Communication System interconnect and interoperate project. More
  • Upgraded the Uninterrupted Power Supply systems at three mountain-top sites as well as the Regional Emergency Operations Center.
  • Increased WIFI access to 20 sites across the county.
  • Upgraded the point-to-point wireless infrastructure Ethernet connection from 100Mbps to 1Gbps.
  • Added in-car video to the entire patrol fleet.
  • Implemented new JustWare web-based case management system for the District Attorney's Office.
  • Completed technology infrastructure for Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, including TeleStaff that enables District integration with case and dispatch systems.
  • Implemented Life Work Events and Performance Management in SAP.
  • Enhanced procurement card project to enable paperless workflow, better vendor tracking and receipt archival.
  • Attended cyber security training developed and taught by the Center of Infrastructure Assurance and Security using grant funds provided by the Department of Homeland Security. More
  • Installed Dual Factor Authentication for computers in all patrol vehicles.
  • Instituted full-packet capture appliance for enhanced network forensics and incident response.
  • Implemented a data loss prevention solution.
  • Deployed the Regional Emergency Operations Center Damage Assessment application that allows citizens to report property damage from fire, flood or earthquake disasters. More
